Civic
Beautification
The Lake Placid Garden
Club is responsible for the design, planting and maintenance of the
planting beds in the 3 North Main Street islands and the Lake Placid
Memorial Library. Members weed, prune, plant or do any other activities
needed to keep these areas attractive.

Community
Service /Ag-Venture
The Lake Placid Garden
Club supports community projects through donations and participation in
the events. One of the community projects the club supports is Ag-Venture.

Garden
Therapy
Geriatric Garden
Therapy is sharing knowledge of the plant and animal world with senior
citizens. The 2nd Tuesday of each month at 10:00 AM. garden club
members visit the Lake Placid Health Care Center, a senior citizen
nursing home. The members plan a different gardening related

Junior Gardeners
The Lake Placid Garden
Club sponsors a 3rd grade class at the Lake Country Elementary School.
We advise and assist the youth group with various projects during the
school year. Working with children is very rewarding and gardening
tasks teach many skills that will be used every day in their lifetime.

Master Gardeners
4 Lake Placid
Garden
Club members are Highlands
County Master Gardeners. The Master Gardener Program is a
volunteer opportunity offered by the Cooperative Extension Service
through the University of Florida. The club encourages the exchange of
gardening information between the garden club members and the Master
Gardeners.

Plant
Study
An informal meetings at
a member's home or a nursery, to hear a gardening related program, to
share gardening experiences and to tour the gardens and view plants. It
is a great way to get acquainted with garden club members. Meeting

Therapy
Through Plants
Interact with inmates
at the Avon Park Correctional Institution
(AVPCI) nursery facilities to provide assistance, guidance, and
instructions in general horticulture techniques.

Blue Star Memorial
Blue Star Memorials are a
perpetual memorial to those who are or were members of the Armed Forces
of the United States. This project was National's first project. The
Lake Placid Garden Club's Blue Star Memorial is in front of the
American Legion Post 25 on Highway US 27. Photo
